The Subaru Campaign

In a campaign that began online in July 10, Subaru is promoting the 2008 Impreza WRX by exuding the history, heritage and popular culture of its home country, Japan. With an estimated budget of $10 million, the campaign features aspects of Japanese anime films and manga comics; movies like “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift,” “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Blade Runner”; and television series like “Heroes.”

A tale of a man from a futuristic city “in a land of forbidden secrets” —a line from the teaser trailer on the site — who is destined to become the master of a powerful jungle creature, the WRX, will be told on three commercials that made their debut on the Subaru Web site (subaru.com/legend). Also, consumers will be able to watch the spots on cell phones and television.

The headline of a print advertisement showing a dragon perched atop a mountain reads “Somewhere in the jungle, the legend is reborn”. The intro of the text runs: “From the East it comes, conceived in thunder, born in lightning”.

A story told in comic-book panels and dialogue balloons about a man named Hiro, whose food at a noodle shop is disturbed by the arrival of a WRX, is shown on other print ads. The ads have the line “Prepare to meet your destiny”.

Timothy J. Mahoney, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Subaru of America in Cherry Hill, N.J., a division of Fuji Heavy Industries, said that the men whose ages are from 20 to 34 are the intended audience for the WRX — which has features like all-wheel drive and a turbocharged engine. As such, they group of audience like what is coming from Asia and the ads epitomizes that.

He continued that such audience group was the kids who grew up playing video games and many of which were, of course, sold by Japanese companies such as Nintendo and Sony.

Subaru joins a list (that is continuously growing) of advertisers who are capitalizing on the rising interest in Japan among younger American consumers.

The three WRX commercials, each utilizing 30 seconds, are to become available online in three stages. The first two was in July 10 and July 17 while the third stage will be available on July 31.

The commercials are set to start running on television next month, during programs that will include coverage of the X Games on ESPN, wherein the WRX is the car sponsor of the games.

Though not affirmed by the manufacturer, we expect the Impreza WRX is equipped with more improved Subaru catalytic converter.

If you were a comicbook villain, what would your gimmick be?

Villains always have a ‘gimmick’ – some unique trait – they’re a penguin, or they ask riddles..etc..

What would be your gimmick?

I would throw a cup of lukewarm water on people’s crotches.

What Comicbook movies do you want to come out even though they most likely won’t?

personally i’d love to see a Lobo movie with a live action/animated kind of thing going on.

I would love a Martian Manhunter movie, even an animated one would be cool. I think it would be cool to see some sort of Blackest Night movie. On the Marvel side, Runaways and Namor would be killer

Anime and Manga Captivates All Age Groups

Anime and Manga Captivates All Age Groups

Japanese Anime

Although the artwork is cartoon style, Anime is much more than just a “cartoon” to its fans. While traditional cartoons in the United States are either humorous, or simplistic “good versus evil” storylines, the typical Japanese anime series offers characters who evolve as the series moves along and deals with complex real-life issues, such as friendship, love, loss, even the reality and acceptance of death.

Japanese Anime truely is an art, with its wonderful plots and beautifully drawn pictures. Anime is entirely about movement between states of being, whether fast or slow. The ‘being’ of a person, which can be one’s soul, mind, blood-line, weapon, limb or organ, is always caught in various stages of transition.

I love the anime characters and their development, particularly, the way each of them possesses multiple personalities, motivations and attitudes. It creates what comes close to the complexity of true human relationships, very touching and memorable.

Anime provides an escape to a wonderous world so beautiful and amazing you wonder how the artist created such a place and conceived the charaters that capture our hearts and keep us impatiently awaiting the next episode\’s release.

Anime is doing what every artistic medium strives to achieve, move you. Anime characters with their spiky hair and huge expressive eyes hold our attention, we cannot help but respond to the language and expression conveyed through their eyes.

Japanese anime artists are eternally searching for the cutest little creature they can possible come up with, and one of the newer characters is Mamegoma, a “bean seal.” I have no idea what that means but he is an adorable little critter!

Anime may also be adapted into live action television programs, available on media such as movies, DVD, video games, soundtracks, music, MP3, and all audio formats for mobile devices.

Anime is often influenced by Japanese comics known as “manga”.

Japanese Manga

Manga is a type of Japanese story usually presented in black-and-white, comic-book form. The books are most often produced in Japan, but artists and writers from many other countries create their own manga as well. Manga is in still form (books) and Anime is animated (moving). You can\’t read anime and you can\’t watch manga..

Japanese Manga is quite different from American comic books in many ways, which is why it is sometimes translated as graphic novels. Comic books in America tend to be in color, sold in thin booklets, and written for a teenage male audience.

Japanese Manga is gender-based from its creation to its marketing. Titles are created for children (kodomo manga), for tween and teen girls (shojo manga), for tween and teen boys (shonen manga), for women (josei manga), and for men (seinen manga).

Manga is well respected as an art form. Japanese manga comics have developed an entirely fresh approach to sequential artwork and have given new inspiration to artists. The influence of manga can now be seen in films, animation and comics the world over.

The overwhelming approval of Hayao Miyazaki\’s anime and manga are changing the perception of anime and manga, placing them closer to the status of “higher” arts (Top of box office charts of all-time in Japan is “Spirited Away” by Hayao Miyzaki, 30.4 billion yen).

Manga is actually a medium which can encompass different genres of stories, from action to romance, comedy to sci-fi, there is a little something for everyone. Manga is a multi-billion dollar industry worldwide and it is rapidly growing in western nations.

Anime and Manga fans and collectors have discovered that buying or renting their episodes, movies and DVD\’s locally can rapidly become quite costly, and availability is often limited. The internet has spawned a tremendous growth in the availability of Anime and Manga episodes, movies and DVD\’s that is escalating exponentially each year.

More and more Anime and Manga fans are flocking to the internet to find their favorite Japanese Anime and Manga episode downloads, movie downloads, DVD\’s, anime games, anime soundtracks, amine music, and even wallpaper and MP3\’s are available at a fraction of the cost as buying them locally.

To avoid pay per download costs, which can add up rapidly, anime membership sites with unlimited downloads offer the best option.

However, some membeship sites are inferior to others with limited anime databases and/or hidden costs etc. I recommend you do your due diligence and go to: ReviewExpose.com/AnimeAndManga/ for revealing information about Anime and Manga websites.

What Did Comicbook fans think of Ultimate Avengers 2 DVD?

The Ultimate Avengers 2 DVD featured Captain America, Iron Man, The Black Widow, Giant Man, The Wasp, Thor, Nick Fury and the Incredible Hulk.

The story centered around aliens coming to earth to the vibranium found in the African country of Wakanda, home of the Black Panther. The first Black Panther, T’Chaka is assassinated by the leader of the alien force whom takes the shape of an evil Nazi General. The son of T’Chaka, T’Challa takes over the throne of his slain father and becomes the current Black Panther.

Much enfolds in the way of background. The fact that this evil Nazi has a strained history with Captain America, that goes back to the 1940’s. T’Challa’s Wakanda people has no faith in their new king, Thor is having his usual conflict with his father, Odin about his alliance with the humans of Midgard, the military is attempting to keep Bruce Banner’s Hulk tamed and at bay, Giant Man and the Wasp are still working through their issues and Tony Stark is drinking heavy.

Haha -I actually just bought it today! –I rather liked it. But I liked the first one better. I don’t actually read a lot of Ultimate comic books (I’m more of an X-Men fan, myself, and the trailer for that video game was totally worth the 12.90 I paid for it, by the way…), but it was pretty decent, for a cartoon. It wasn’t any less dramatic, or poor animation (compared to the first one, like you see in a lot of sequals). It was nice. –But I’m really looking forward to Iron Man (I liked the "First Looks"…Dr. Strange looks good too).
