How do I find my stolen comic book collection?
My collection was stolen from a communal storage locker area in my apartment building. I most likely left my locker open, and 1 of the 9 other locker room users found my locker open. Otherwise a maintenance person with a key broke in and stole the books. PLEASE HELP!
Open a phone book or check online and find every comic book store in a 50 mile radius. Call them all and mention your collection was stolen and be on the look out for anyone selling one. Describe the books inside it.
If you were buying in the 80s and 90s, though, it’ll look like every other comic collection out there.
Oooohh. :/
Ask people. look for evidence.

Sorry to say this, but it seems you are SOL, unless they have a camera that caught it all, than you might have something… good luck!

Hello ,
Alert the police and check your local comic shops and pawn shops ; hopefully you have some means to identify your books given some characteristics e.g.titles , issues , distinctive boxes or other features .
Good luck with this one because it’s your word against theirs .

You can report your stolen possessions to the police and they will put it on file. Other than that, don’t use a communal locker anymore.

If your Apartment building has any type of insurance for their tenants they should be responsible. But you have to be careful…you said you most likely left your locker open…then you said that a maintenance worker w/ a key broke in and stole the books. This is important information to be aware of because they could turn around and say that it was your own fault, and possibly make it difficult for you if you file any type of complaint.

Check comic shops and book dealers in your immediate area pretty soon and if you have a list of books give a copy to them. This is in case someone brings your books in to try to sell them. Also there are some web sights that buy comics (milehighcomics.com & Westfieldcomics.com) so maybe forward a list of your books to them so they can be on the look out.

IF you had a large collection or something of a great value it might end up at a local comic shop. A local comic shop near me had an Amazing Fantasy 15 stolen. So every comic shop in America was on alert for anyone trying to sell one. But that’s a real rarity. Easy to spot. And probably five years later it wouldn’t have been that hard to sell.
If you’re talking about common Fantastic Fours or Pokemons or something, you file an insurance claim and take your lumps.
I’d be surprised if there wasn’t surveilance in the area.

why would you leave comics in a damp locker anyway,
someone saved them.
