What is the best outlet for selling a comic book collection? How much is my collection worth?
I collected X-Men comics when i was a kid and have a large(?) collection of them and related titles. I want to sell them and was wondering what the best outlet would be to do so (ebay, craigslist, comic book shop, comic specialty site, etc). Is it better to sell as a lot or is it worth the hassle of selling individual comics or small groups of comics (such as the Age of Apocalypse set)? I also thought i would post the catalog of my collection on here, and see if anyone knows roughly how much it is worth. Thanks — Trey

I have no idea of the value of your collection, but your best bet would be to sell them on E-bay.
I would suggest that you put them in groups of about 6-8 in some logical combination. Then put them up for bid on E-bay one group at a time.
You will probably want to set an opening or minimum bid for each group. One way to check pricing is to see what similar comics are selling for on E-bay or visit your local comic shop to get an idea on the price they are selling for.

Have a look on ebay and see what they are going for.
look in the "want it now "section too as people put adds in for a certain item they want

eBay is probably the best place to go for selling big lots like that. Most local comic shops won’t buy any of those books
As for the comics themselves, it looks like most of those were published during the speculation boom, but I don’t see any really notable ones in there. You could probably get 100-200 dollars for the lot of them

To be honest most of the stuff you have isn’t really worth too much, and that’s considering them being in perfect (mint) condition.
X-men are some of the most popular books out there and they always have a very high amount printed, which means that there isn’t really a shortage, or scarcity of them. That’s important because if they are easy to find then their value is diminished.
Now, specifically about the books you have listed; many of those can be found in $0.50 boxes. It doesn’t mean they’re bad, but there is just a ton of them out there is all.
My advice is to try and unload them on eBay as a group. Individually there won’t be much demand for most of your stuff and it will likely go unsold, especially since you’re missing issues in your runs and mini-series. Before you do that I would check and see what a few of the books you have are going for on ebay to determine if there is even interest in them and what they’re going for. You might find a few that are worth the trouble of listing seperately, but when you take the valuable ones away from the group, then the whole bunch becomes harder to sell.
Whatever you do, don’t take them into a local comic shop and expect them to give you the fair market value for them. You’ll get an offer of about 10-20% of what they are worth. It’s actually an honest offer because the store needs to make money off of what it pays you for them and the cost for storing them in his store as well as the cost of paying one of his workers to inventory everything and then price it out and put it on the shelf.
In my honest opinion if you get $200 for the whole set, you’re doing good.
Good luck, I hope that helps.

Ebay is a good bet.
