Du what you need to do-my Dad sold my old comic collection (&my old baseball cards for $15 back in 1974). I had the Original Silver Surfer series(complete) and DC going back to the 60's. Let's not even talk about the Topps cards! He admitted he was wrong Years later but I could have bought a house for what he gave away. NOW, everything is over produced-get what you can!!!
References :
Action Comics was the first Series Superman debuted in back in 1938. A few years later, they started a second series, Superman, which originally reprinted some early adventures, and later went on to tell new stories.

In 1987, Superman was retitled Adventures of Superman until 2006 when it went back to being Superman.

From 1987 until 2006, there was a new book titled Superman, and it was during this series in issue 75 Superman was killed off.

The art and storylines of Action Comics have been great, but it has been having trouble getting printed on time. Superman, has good stories, but also has had a few delays.

At this time, both books are telling seperate storys, but they share the same universe and at times will crossover (much like they did for an 8 part series back in 2006).

Both comics used to be part of the Never Ending Battle of Superman series. There was Action Comics, Superman: The Man of Steel, Superman, Adventures of Superman and on the rare 5th week months, Superman: The Man of Tomorrow. This way, there was a Superman book out each week, and it was told in a Soap Opera type storyline where each books was needed for the full picture.

They do not do this anymore, but at times they will mention events from one in the other, or may do the crossovers like they did in 2006 for a story arc.

My best advice, try reading a few issues of both before you subscribe to one. Otherwise, I would say my opinion is that Action Comics with Geoff Johns and Richard Donner writing are right now a very good read.
References :
I am a DC Comics Fan

each series has a diffrent creative team and its own storyline going. which book is better flip flops depending on who is writing. these days i think action is better with fabian nicieza writing and allan goldman drawing. geoff johns is supposed to return to writing the series later on this year as well and the story arc he just finished up on action was great so i cant wait to see what he does with superman next.
References :
well to start a comic book shop like i did this year you need to do a lot of research. you need to have the knowledge of the industry. you need to have a plan. try to think of a good name for your store. figure out what kind of products you want to carry besides comic books. have money set aside to get you started.
you will need to register your business name with your state, apply for a vendors license and get a employee identification #

look for a good location for your shop. if its in a local shopping center figure out how much monthly rent is, property tax and operating cost. You will also need point of sale software like quickbooks and need to figure out what fixtures you will need to display your merchandise.

Diamond Comics is the distributor of comics and the more you order the bigger the discount. you have to order a minimum of $425 a month and you get 35%discount. but if you order over $6,300 a month u get a discount over 53% . Theres a lot of info to look up. if there is anything elsee i can help you with just email me at metrocitycomics@yahoo.com

Actions Comics is where Superman first appeared. Originally it had a variety of various comics, and one day, they did a story on superman. Eventually he took over the Comics, and also moved to his own title. Today there isn't much difference, they both mostly have superman comics, but you need to read both to get the whole story.
References :
don't sell them. yes they may be worth a large sum of money and in these times that could help you but things will get better and when they do you'll be down a few thousand expensive and hard to find comics. jetison other stuff you don't need if you're that desperate. you can replace them later.
References :
First, I would contact Diamond Distributors. I believe there's some beginning information on wholesale comics you might get acquainted with.

But, do you have a plan? Retail experience? You need to formulate a budget and all the other things associated with a business before getting into this. You can dig a big hole financially pretty quick if you aren't prepared for it.

Also, what do you really know about comics? I would read the CBG and other comics-realted material to get a FEEL for things.

Good luck.
References :
http://www.bluelinepro.com
