Christopher Knowles – Our Gods Wear Spandex: The Secret History of Comic Book Heroes
November 11, 2007
Comic book artist and writer Christopher Knowles joins us for a very interesting discussion about his book: Our Gods Wear Spandex: The Secret History of Comic Book Heroes. We talk about everything from Ancient Mythology to Secret Societies, Symbolism and what part the comic book heroes have in our world today. Topic Discussed: Chris’ background in the comic book industry, Prometheus, Mithras, Symbolism, Architecture, (Free) Masonry, 1930’s, New York, The Big Apple, Retelling of the Ancient Stories, Mythologies, The Last Supper Cover, The Gilgamesh Epic, 9/11, Talisman, Graham Hancock, Edward Bulwer Lytton, The Coming Race, Blavatsky & Theosophy, Is TV series like Heroes and Movies like the X-Men simply entertainment or “predictive programming”? Are these stories with a prophetic message about “natural evolution” or simply about acclimatization to transhumanism and genetic engineering? Don’t miss this fascinating program. Also don’t miss out excellent Subscriber Interview with Christopher on movie symbolism, the Templars and John the Baptist.
“The collision of science, morality, and magic is being played out hundreds of times a month in comic books and other media, showing us the implications of superhuman potential. Is this an unconscious form of preparation for an inevitable shift in human reality? Should we pay more careful attention to the visionaries and lunatics who anticipate the future in comic-book storylines? In that supernatural realm called the human imagination, comic-book creators like Alan Moore and Alex Ross may be time-travelers, forecasting the future for us and showing us the way. It’s funny how it all seems so similar to the ancient myths. The past and future are always with us.”
